Władysław Anders (* 11. August 1892 in Krośniewice-Błonie; † 12.
Beide Eltern waren Deutsch-Balten.
English wikipedia says: Lieutenant-General Władysław Anders CB (11 August 1892 – 12 May 1970) was a General in the Polish Army and later in life a politician with the Polish government-in-exile in London.
Anders was born on 11 August 1892 to his Baltic-German father Albert Anders and his mother Elizabeth, born Tauchert, in the Polish village of Krośniewice–Błonie, near Kutno which at that time was part of the Russian Empire (Partitions of Poland). He was baptized as a member of the Protestant Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland; but while being kept in Soviet prisons he made a promise that if he survived and regained strength in his legs (he was seriously injured) he would convert to Roman Catholicism. He did survive, and did indeed convert.

TALLINN — Estonia adopted the European single currency at midnight, ringing in 2011 as the 17th member of the eurozone, a bloc threatened by bailouts in Greece and Ireland and debt woes in Portugal and Spain.
As a spectacular fireworks show lit up the sky over Tallinn, the 2004 Baltic EU entrant of 1.3 million which broke free from the crumbling Soviet Union in 1991 bade a reluctant farewell to its kroon, adopted in 1992 to replace the Soviet ruble.
While the centre-right government of Prime Minister Andrus Ansip has championed the switch to the euro as economic good sense despite the eurozone's turmoil, replacing Estonia's highly symbolic kroon has received a muted welcome among average Estonians.
"Estonia's entry means that over 33 0 million Europeans now carry euro notes and coins in their pockets," European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said in a Friday statement ahead of the official midnight switch.
"Estonia! Welcome to the Titanic," read posters plastered near the opera house by critics of the currency switch.
"Estonia is the poorest country in the eurozone, so we have a lot of things to do also now after the goal of reaching the eurozone has been accomplished," Estonia's centre-right Prime Minister Andrus Ansip said hailing the historic moment after the fireworks show burst colourfully over central Tallinn.
Born in Tartu, Ansip graduated from the University of Tartu with a degree in Chemistry in 1979. He worked as an engineer at Tartu State University from 1979-1983 (with a two-year break for mandatory military service). He was an Instructor in the Industry Department and Head of the Organisational Department of the Tartu District Committee of the Estonian Communist Party from 1986-1988. Ansip has been involved in several banking and investment ventures. He has served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the People’s Bank of Tartu (Estonian: Rahvapank), Chairman of the Board of Livonia Privatisation IF, and CEO of Investment Fund Broker Ltd (Estonian: Fondiinvesteeringu Maakler AS). He also has served as Chairman of the board for Radio Tartu.
He and his family, Baltic German industrialists, were relocated from Estonia to occupied Poland at the beginning of World War II because of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact. At the end of the war, the family fled westwards to Germany

US Capitol evacuated due to airspace violation by DC-9 aircraft
WASHINGTON — An airliner lost radio contact Saturday as it approached the nation's capital, prompting the dispatch of fighter jets and the evacuation of the U.S. Capitol and all House and Senate office buildings.
Piedmont Airlines flight 4352 was flying from Hilton Head, S.C., to Reagan National Airport when it lost radio contact with air traffic controllers for about 15 minutes, Federal Aviation Administration officials said.
F-16 fighter jets were scrambled from Andrews Air Force Base, but the airliner was able to re-establish radio contact and landed at Reagan, said Stacey Knott, a spokeswoman for the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
The evacuation order was issued around 1:3 0 p.m. and was called off about a half-hour later when the plane landed.
Piedmont is a wholly owned subsidiary of US Airways based in Salisbury, Md. Airline spokeswoman Tina Swail said the airline was working with local authorities to investigate the incident.
The number of passengers on board wasn't immediately known. The company's website says it operates 44 de Havilland DHC-8 turboprop aircraft, which can carry between 37 and 80 passengers depending on the model type.

A tanker carrying at least 2,200 tons of sulfuric acid has capsized in the Rhine River in Germany's western Rhineland-Palatinate state.
The 110-meter-long "Waldhof" is currently stranded near the town of St. Goarshausen, home to the well-known Lorelei rock, which marks the narrowest part of the Rhine.
St. Goarshausen.
Heinrich-Heine-Denkmal in der Bronx, New York.
